Mick Basa is a development worker and writer based in Malang, Indonesia. He was previously a business reporter for online news agency Rappler in the Philippines, where he gained nearly a decade of experience in journalism. (See some of his works here)
Apart from reporting the news, Mick has taught courses in communication and English language in Indonesia and the Philippines. He was a part-time lecturer at Ateneo de Davao University and Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang.
His passion in facilitating learning both disciplines among young Indonesians and Filipinos is what motivated him to serve as Vice President Education for Malang Toastmasters Club, one of Indonesia’s dynamic public speaking and leadership clubs.
Why Durian Writer? The blog is named after the Philippines’ durian capital, Davao City, where Mick spent many years of his life.
