Mick Basa is a freelance writer and editor based in Malang, Indonesia. He holds nearly a decade of combined journalism and education praxis. (See some of his works here)

As a journalist, he has reported on a wide range of issues in the Philippines for various news agencies, including Rappler, Manila Bulletin, the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Mindanao Times, and Union of Catholic Asian News. Currently, he is one of the editors at DavaoToday.com, albeit based in Indonesia.

Apart from journalism, Mick has taught courses in communication, journalism, and English language in Indonesia and the Philippines. He was a part-time lecturer at Ateneo de Davao University and Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, where he is also completing his postgraduate degree in Sociology.

In case you wonder why his blog is named after that stinky fruit, Mick grew up in Davao City, the Philippines’ durian capital.
